TBR | September 2015

This month, I wanted to keep my TBR simple. Coming off of this reading slump (heck, I don't know if I'm even out of it yet), I didn't want to have this huge list of things to try and get to. Hopefully, keeping my TBR short and sweet will allow me to feel freer about my reading choices. The goal this month isn't necessarily quantity - I just want to be able to enjoy reading again.

The five books I have on my September TBR are:

  1. The 100 by Kass Morgan - This was on my August TBR but I ended up not getting to it. I adore the TV show by the same name and am slightly worried that I won't be able to completely separate myself from it while I'm reading. In case you don't know, this book follows 100 kids who are sent back to Earth to see if it is inhabitable after nuclear fallout. Or something like that. I'm not sure of the technicalities. Just read the summary at Goodreads. Anyways, I'm hoping I can enjoy this book for what it is and not be too discouraged when it differs from the show.
  2. A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara - My sister is currently reading this
and I want to pick it up right when she finishes so we can discuss it together. At over 700 pages, though, it may take both of us a while to get through it. The book follows four classmates who move to New York and has gotten comparisons to Donna Tartt's The Secret History, which I loved, so I am really excited to get into it and be ruined by it. Goodreads.
  3. I'll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios - I have had this book on my shelf since early Spring and I decided I'd put it on my list this month. I'm not going to be heartbroken if I don't get to it but it's been kind of calling out to me for a while. It deals with a
teenaged girl whose mother loses her job and an injured soldier sent home from Afghanistan (Goodreads). I read another of Demetrios' books, Something Real, earlier this year and, while I wasn't too terribly impressed, I'm still willing to give this one a shot - it sounds more up my alley, anyways.
  4. The Girl Without a Name by Sandra Block - I received this through the Goodreads First Reads program for free in exchange for an honest review. It comes out this month so it makes sense that I would read it, right? Right. I don't know much about this
book or the author, only that it deals with a psychiatrist trying to figure out the identity of a Jane Doe, but it sounds like it could be a really interesting mystery. Goodreads.
  5. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo - AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I completely forgot that this was coming out this month until I was writing the concluding questions on this post. I love, love, love the Grisha trilogy so I cannot wait to dig into this world a little bit more. I have a copy of this preordered so, if everything works out, I will be starting it as soon as it arrives on my doorstep on the 29th. This new duology features new characters, including a thief and a sharpshooter living in the same Grisha world. Goodreads. Also. That cover. Bye.

What is on your September TBR? What September releases are you going to read as soon as they are out?
