Top 5 Wednesday | Fandoms

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey.

Yeah, yeah, Top 5 Wednesday was created in the book community and probably mostly meant for bookish things but I just can't put up a list of my top 5 fandoms if I don't include non-book-related ones. Sorry 'bout it!

5. Harry Potter
I have always been a fan of Harry Potter. Until recently, though, it had been in kind of a vague "yeah, this is cool, I like these characters, I like this world" kind of way. When I re-read all of the books and re-watched all of the movies in December for #HarryXmasToYou, that changed. I was no longer a vague fan. I think about these characters all of the time (Fred Weasley, mostly) and I snarl at pairings (Ginny/Harry) and I just want to talk about this world to anyone who will listen. Maybe this is old news, maybe it's too late for me to be a part of this fandom but, frankly, I don't care! My patronus is a fox. And I ship myself with Neville. And Percy should have died instead of Fred. Yes, I am embarrassing about it.

4. The 100
Definitely referring to the TV show fandom here, but I guess that I couldn't be a fan of this incredible show if it weren't for the book, so, hey. I stan these characters so hard, guys. Murphy's redemption, Finn turning into murderous trash, Lexa, Anya, Clarke, Bellamy, Lincoln, Raven (Raven, my angel). Let me not just list every character on the show. The showrunner gets kind of messy on Twitter, yeah, and the show isn't perfect, of course, but it's just a whole lot of fun. I'm currently watching the first two seasons again in preparation for the third, so my feelings are at a high.

3. United States Women's National Team (USWNT)
Ladies playing soccer (football, if I want to be like that). Ladies kicking ass and confronting the inequality in the sport. Ladies winning the World Cup and embarking on a glorious Victory Tour. So. Many. Ladies. Doing so many amazing things. I just... what else do I say? This team means so much to me.

2. The Grishaverse
This is mainly Six of Crows, to be honest. I love Leigh Bardugo's writing and I love this world she has created, but most of my love is direction towards her newest offering. This is ranked so high for a number of reasons and I can't count out the fact that it is so new and fresh as one of them. I love these characters, the banter, the relationships, the heist, everything. This isn't to say that I don't love the other books set in this world, because I do (and Nikolai... let's be real, he's everything), but Six of Crows just owns my heart right now.

1. Detroit Tigers
Half of the reason I made this blog: baseball. I didn't add the Miami Marlins to this one just because I'm not as deeply ingrained in their fandom as I am with the Tigers, but this could be expanded to just the general baseball world, I suppose. Baseball is my happy place (along with reading but let's just strike that from the conversation right now). When I can sit down and watch a game, I can relax. I can let all of the outside stress go. Sure, in those moments, I'm stressed out for a whole different reason, but I love it. The boys on my team pull me up when I'm down. The offseason is dreadful and I am just counting down the days until the team pulls up to Lakeland, Florida to start spring training. It cannot come soon enough.

I also really wanted to put The Young Elites on this list but it just got squeaked out. If I did this as consisting of only book fandoms, it would have made it. I'm not sure what the others would have been, though. Hmm...
