ON MY RADAR | March 2016

In the last week and a half of February, I fell into a deep disinterested reading slump. Needless to say, my stats are not that impressive. I read 7 books for a total of 2626 pages. My average rating was 3.21 stars. Out of those 7 books, my favorite was Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys and my least favorite was A Criminal Magic by Lee Kelly. I only read 3 of the 6 books that were on my February OMR and completed 3 Popsugar challenge prompts.

I am currently reading Illusive by Emily Lloyd-Jones and am hoping I can stick to it and enjoy it and not put it down like 3 of the last 4 books I've picked up.
New Releases

  • Wink Poppy Midnight by April Genevieve Tucholke This book looks really interesting, whimsical, and thrilling. I haven't read anything by this author besides her short story in the Slasher Girls & Monster Boys anthology that she edited; however, that entry was one of my favorites, so I think I will like whatever else she has to offer.
  • The Way I Used to Be by Amber Smith I am a sucker for books that touch on sexual assault and rape culture. I have seen a lot of glowing reviews for this one (along with one not-so-glowing one) and I am looking forward to delving into another perspective of this issue.
  • The Crown and the Arrow and The Moth and the Flame by Renée Ahdieh I loved The Wrath and the Dawn so I was so excited to find out that Ahdieh would be releasing two novellas prior to the sequel's release this Spring. Both of these stories sound really interesting and I will gladly consume anything that involves this world and Ahdieh's lush writing.

Popsugar Challenge

  • Under the Udala Trees by Chinelo Okparanta This is a leftover from last month's On My Radar that I didn't get to because of obvious slumpy reasons. I am really looking forward to it, I just need to be in the right mood. Unfamiliar culture prompt.
  • The Disenchantments by Nina LaCour Reading for the road trip prompt. I love road trip books. I just do. The novel I am working on this year has a road trip in it. I also love Nina LaCour's newest book, Everything Leads to You, so I am really excited to read more from her.

On My Shelf

  • After You'd Gone by Maggie O'Farrell This is one of those books that I just stumble across randomly on Bookoutlet and add to my cart. This sounds really interesting and I am looking forward to seeing how O'Farrell handles the
  • A Madness So Discreet by Mindy McGinnis I got this book in my first ever Owlcrate box (last October) and, while I have been interested in it, have never found the right time to pick it up. I'm hoping that it is atmospheric and creepy and brilliant.
