Top 5 Wednesday | Fictional Things I Want
2:03 PM
Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey.
How many times have you been reading a book and exclaimed "I want that?" Probably more than once. This week, I discuss five of the items that I would love to have (and, no, they are not all from the Wizarding World).
5. The Wardrobe (The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe)
It has been a long, long time since I have read this book or seen this movie but, in my struggle to make this list (and, yeah, it was a struggle for some reason), I realized that I would really like a closet that transports me to Narnia or some other cool place. Sometimes, I just get sick of the same ol', same ol' that surrounds me. I would love to be able to step through my wardrobe and discover people like Mr. Tumnus and meet Tilda Swinton (either as herself or as the Witch, I'm not picky). Photo from here.
4. Alexia's Parasol (The Parasol Protectorate Series)
Admittedly, I have only read two books in this series; however, that doesn't mean that I can't covet all of the whimsical, steampunk-fabulous technology that Carriger has included in it. Alexia's parasol can do so many things and be fashionable at the same time. Shouldn't all accessories be so useful? It is hard to see all of the features from this small image, but viewing the full-size graphic is definitely worth the look! It has a pull cord for a blow torch! Photo from here.
3. Iko (The Lunar Chronicles Series)
Iko is, technically, a character in the series, I'll give you that. She is also an android, though, meaning she has a personality chip and can be transported between different bodies and vessels. That is an object. Okay, so maybe I'm toeing the line with this pick but, honestly, who cares? I would love to have Iko as a friend and comrade. She's funny, smart, and if her pretending to cry at [Stars Above spoiler warning] Scarlet and Wolf's wedding wasn't the best part of that story then I don't know what was. Photo from here.
Yes, I am pretending that, in this scenario, I am a Grisha. Deal with it. For some reason, I have always been really into the jewelry that has, like, little antlers on it (whether it is Grisha-specific or not doesn't really matter). I don't wear a lot of jewelry, really, but you can bet that I would if it increased my power. I know that you can't really pick amplifiers but I spend a lot of time thinking about what I would want to have as mine. Photo from here.
Honestly, this pick is completely based off of it being March 16th, 2016. If this were a topic in July or October, I can't say that the Anglia would have made the list, let alone be number one. For now, though, I need a flying car. Spring is rolling in and, living on a dirt road, that means potholes, mud, and general grossness. I took my car to the car wash on Monday and now it's disgusting again. Who wouldn't want to fly around in these conditions!? I also just get a general paranoia that something is always going to go wrong when I'm driving and I guess I'd rather... breakdown while in the sky? Or something? Photo from here.
